5 Questions to Ask Before Signing With Any Lead Generation Company
Lead generation pitches tend to sound similar: more leads, better ROI, guaranteed growth. The differences that actually matter are usually buried in the details. Here's what to ask before you sign anything.
1. Is my territory exclusive, or shared?
Get a direct answer on how many other agents will receive the same lead. "Exclusive" sometimes means exclusive to a small pool of agents, not to you alone. Ask how the territory is actually defined (zip code, city, county) and how many agents can be active in it at once.
2. Who verifies the lead, and how?
A lead that's "generated" isn't the same as a lead that's "verified." Ask specifically whether a real person contacts the prospect before delivery, and what gets confirmed (budget, timeline, motivation) versus what's just captured from a form fill.
3. What happens if the leads don't convert?
Refund policies, contract lengths, and cancellation terms tell you how confident a company actually is in its own leads. A long lock-in with no refund path is worth a second look.
4. How is pricing structured?
Flat monthly fees, per-lead pricing, and referral-fee-on-close models all shift the risk differently. Understand exactly when you're charged and what triggers each fee before you commit a budget.
5. Who do I talk to when something's wrong?
A dedicated point of contact, not a shared support inbox, usually means faster resolution when a territory needs adjusting or a lead doesn't match what was promised.
None of these questions are unreasonable to ask, and a provider confident in its process should be able to answer all five without hesitation.
